Fireplace Inserts
For some people the fireplace is the only option short of building a new chimney. I still have two open chimneys left one for the basement furnace and one for the kitchen. My insert is centrally located in the dining room that has openings to the kitchen in the back, a stair place leading to the second floor, and entry to the foyer in the front with cathedral ceiling. getting heat to my living room and office are my biggest problems. the heat flows good even with the stove running hot. But anybody with there fireplace stuck off in a corner of the house with other options may want to consider heat distribution before making any decisions.

ya, mine was welded on with triangular weld supports, as well as welds up top and more on the sides. I used about 5- 4" angle grinder cutoff blade attachments to get mine off. it was just too thick(3/16") and big. I made one out of 30 gauge aluminum, that "floats" above the stove to it wont warp and turn when the stove is above 400degrees.Pete69 wrote:They will also make the shroud custom to the size of your fireplace opening.

I see I was wrong about the location of the shaker handle on woodbutcher's stove. baker may have made a slow transition some ware along the way. Asesover's stove on pg. 26 of pictures of your stove has the handle on the left.
The shroud that came with my stove interlocks on itself and is not attached to the stove it can be moved on the stove depending on how far in or out you position the unit . You can see picts. on pg. 25 of pictures of your stove the sides are standing back in the opening.
Can't see in the picts. if you have it or not but for burning coal there is a removable metal plate that sits in front that holds the coal off the door, comes up to the bottom of the glass.
I should also mention that the glass was extra. Only a small amount. It comes stock with a cast iron plate with an eagle on it, looks nice but I want to see the fire. the eagle sits on top of the stove now.

What type of info and how much do you need They been making stove 2 years longer then Harman And there customerCapeCoaler wrote:Going to be burning coal till May/June and then it will be shut down. The 503 will never see a lick of wood. There is a dedicated wood burner that can take the chill off if need be. Wood will leave that nasty stuff in your pipes and I do not want to be brushing that out of a liner of a COAL stove!
Not much on the Baker...
