New Blower Control for Hitzer - Works Great

The blower control that came with my Hitzer is fine but low speed is too fast - especially this time of year.

I installed a wall mounted Broan/Nutone Electronic Speed Control (Grainger # 4C331 - $20.73) that works great and is able run the motor from full speed down to very slow.

This control will also help someone that wants to run the fan but would like things quieter.

This is just the functionality I'm looking for Rovatune, but I'm an electricity dummy. How complicated is this to install? Does it replace the entire junction box/outlets? (see what I mean?--not even sure my terminology is correct)

Thanks,

You Can buy one with the same functions that plug inti the outlet then your blower plug plugs into it. Varible speed. There about 10 bucks..

Thats great news. I also thought of another idea... You could probably also install a wall-mounted thermostat (not too close to the stove) and wire it into (in series) the "on all the time" side of the switch. Then you could switch it on but the blower would only run when the thermostat called for heat in the room. As soon as the required temperature was met, the thermo would shut off the fan.

By "on all the time" side of the switch I mean the following: The switch has 3 positions. the "up" position is called "automatic" and turns the blower on when the stove reaches a certain temp (not adjustable) Problem is once the stove gets hot (especially with a load of coal) the blower never shuts off because the stove temp is always above the threshold temp. The "middle" position is off (self explanitory) The "down" position is blower "on all the time"...it doesn't matter, the stove can be red hot or ice cold or whatever. If a room thermostat was wired into this side of the swith, then the fan would kick on when the room was cold and the fan would shut off when the room reached warm temp.

You can probably buy one with a full range of rpm that plugs into the outlet. I like to mess around with the stove and I thought it would be easier on the old back to wall mount the control.

It did require fishing wires up from the basement and I put it on it's own breaker in my service in case there was any overheating.

Thanks for this post, my Hitzer sounds like its about to launch into orbit. I'll be ordering your speed control.
