Sad decision

After 16 years of total home comfort anthracite heating, I have to give up. Here in Québec, anthracite coal, not available any more in our region, the main retailer BMR does not sell it anymore. Available only throught the distributor, wich is 1 1/2 hour drive from my home at a non sense price.

I decided to go with "Wiseway" gravity fed non electric pellet stove. Wood pellets is available easily at a reasonnable price througout the country.

I would like to give my sincere appreciation to the whole team of one of my favorite forum through all those years!

How much do you figure it'll cost to heat with pellets for one winter?

Alas , not this season

I would have gone with cats ... but wood pellets are generally more acceptable by society. Today's society anyways.

I think there's quite a few people moving away from coal but your situation is even more expensive. Let us know how that stove works out.

The exhaust goes right into the mother-in-laws addition. Good choice. Post back with your views on the differences.

Maybe next season for coal.

Anthracite cost 17.40$ and they told me next shipment will be higher and first quality hardwood pellets cost 6.50$CND. The choice is easy!

I looked up btus per ton for both coal and pellets. 16.5k for pellets. 24k for coal. Even at 50% less btus you're saving money with pellets.
