All your heat is up the chimney if that's wide open. Or you're ash bound and it can't get enough air.

Then either it needs to be re calibrated or you need a new one, or you have a lack of draft or severe ash build up.

I tore everything down to the shaker grates so I know it’s not ash buildup but maybe I do need to extend chimney it’s just above peak but the guy that I know who had house and installed it said it worked great when installed

We don’t have very tall chimneys on ours, do you have a barometric damper in the stove pipe? Or a manual pipe damper?

That's not what ashbound means. After a period of burning ash builds. If you don't shake aggressively, ash builds up above the grates.

Gs welcome to the forum , barometric damper shouldn’t ever be touched for a temperature change , cover for wood or increase velocity to ramp up temps ( but that just sends a larger volume of whatever temp gases are already in stove !) temperature is only adjusted by under fire air when burning anthracite , spend the 30 abd get the mark11 so you can properly calibrate yours . wasting fuel and stoves without bimetalics can quikly over fire
