- Hand Fed Coal Furnace: Hitzer 82 FA
- Coal Size/Type: Reading NUT 40lb plastic bags
- Other Heating: Heat Pump
Online? Would prefer to buy a higher quality, or higher temperature rated brick. Price is not much of an issue. Hitzer webpage seems to be out for months.

You can buy them direct from Hitzer.
Couple things to remember when you call them.
Tell them the exact size you need because I think they have some 14” bricks as well. I’ve have some out in my garage but at the moment I am not where I can measure them for you. Just give them the size of the bricks that you have and I’m sure they can match them for you.
Next…
Ask them to make sure they are straight.
The first few I bought (while at Hitzer) I simply asked for a couple and without looking at them before I left I paid for them and headed home nearly two hours only to find I could mot use either of them because they were not totally flat. They had a big bow in both of them…something both of us should have found.
They are also more expensive than standard bricks, so be aware of that.

C--for my 50-93-- I just get them from TSC--mine have lasted 10 yrs--to hot to measure but they sure look like the size you're lookin for. I'm thinkin I had to trim a brick or two for a real nice fit.

14” high 4 would do the back wall of my stove without having a joint at 9” or soHoytman wrote: ↑Mon. Jan. 16, 2023 8:50 amYou can buy them direct from Hitzer.

Those are standard 4.5"x9"x1.25". I also get mine at tractor supply and Dean at Hitzer recommended me get them there as well if I'm not near Hitzer. However, those 14'x4.5"x1.25" I get direct from Hitzer...those are the ones that go across the front door loading lip on newer stoves. Those might be available online, but I've never seen them at TSC, or anywhere else for that matter.freetown fred wrote: ↑Mon. Thats what mine are...I get them from a local construction supply company. I hand pick them to avoid ones with cracks. Cost ? $1.50 ea. They are consumables. The 503 also uses 2 one-inch sized ones, I make those from a standard brick, cutting into one inch widths. I replace a brick on about every 2-3 seasons on average.Hoytman wrote: ↑Mon. Nothing to be sorry about, Fred. I just meant that like you do I get the standard sized bricks at TSC also.
Op…
By the way, you don’t have to buy those 14” bricks at Hitzer or online…I should have mentioned this earlier…you can do like Fred and I have done…just buy the standard bricks at TSC and cut a couple down.
I don’t know if Fred did that or not, but I did.
I also have the 14” bricks here at home in my garage, but I’m not using them.
I actually bought several extra standard sized (4 1/2”x 9”x 1 1/4”) bricks. These fit along the sides and rear, and across the loading door lip I placed a standard brick on the left and one on the right and then I only had to cut the one in the middle. I even have new standard sized spares cut to fit in my garage…right next to the 4 unused 14” bricks that were expensive. Had I been thinking, I wouldn’t have even bought those 14” bricks for the front. Standard sized bricks work just fine (2 full sized and cut the third to fit).
When Fred posted that might have been what he meant. Didn’t mean to step on any toes, Fred. LOL!
