Gm guys,

Question for ya, has anyone ever cut the feet off of an Alaskan Kodak Hand Fired Stove? Then relocated the blower and or upgraded the blower to a quieter blower? I want to move the stove up onto our hearth, but with the feet on it will not allow access to my SS liner without an elbow down which is a no, no.

There is an air space there, likely, to keep heat off the floor for safety. Other than that I dont know if it would cause any other problems except maybe rust.

It’s going to be sitting on the brick hearth like an insert. I wrote to the manufacturer and of course you recall that old Genesis song right…..no reply at all LOL

Post a photo when done , here’s a pic of my shop stove with a 20” lift , originally the ash door was only 4” off the ground , basically had to kneel and crouch to shake

I’ve gotten 3 stoves from people I went to pickup free coal from one I paid 75 because it was a beautiful chocolate and cream coalbrookdale ( had a 3-4 year old hitzer insert offered free if removed 6 months ago , took the 60 bags of blashack young couple just bought and were scared of stove because of 2 toddlers)

Nice, will do. She’s already lit for the year. If she doesn’t go out on me I’ll start cutting in the spring and get part of my basement back again lol.

Thanks bill , this is a Penn Royal " baron " I think it's rated for 90-100 k btu ( this thing is at least 2 1/2 times the size of 50kbtu stove , bottom grate is like 20x20 with another 2" angle to the brick ,kind of a PIA to fully clear when shaking so I usually run it 6-8 days than do a good clean , it burns wood really well with top spinners

So is Penn Royal the brand, or is the brand a Pine Baron? Seems I’ve heard of Pine Baron but I don’t know anything about them.

Your stove, whatever it is seems built very heavy. I like the looks of it.

Penn Royal is the manufacturer ( seems to have sprung up mid 70s for the oil crisis and possibly lasted into the 90s )

The Penn Royal name rang a bell in my head. I could be wrong but I remember a welding shop a couple miles from me that made stoves in the 70s. Long gone now.

I think you are spot on ( my impression of the company is that it capitalized on the well known names of Penn stoves and Royal at a time where everyone who could was switching or adding a supplementary heater) they made enough to justify the casting of there own badges
