Yep..."we" know all about that "ire", me and grandpa did...LOL.

The Ohio State Patrol officer giving me my CDL test years ago says to me, "I don't know who taught you how to drive, but whoever it was must have drove the old Mack's" and he said he could tell by "the way I double clutched and feathered the accelerator between gears to keep the rpm's up". Sort of surprised me to hear him guess that and be right about it. Shows the officer's driving experience as well. I just smiled and told him grandpa was my trainer and spent 54 years in Mack mixers...and the officer just grinned...and said turn this rig around "you pass"...without even going half of the full driving time. He couldn't see it, but I was laughing inside. LOL!

I have a good friend who's spent about 43 years doing big jobs with lots of flat concrete work and lots of trucks on the jobsites at one time with huge pours. My work was much different than that. I have great respect for those flat work guys. They are really hard workers and have great talent.

Reading some of these posts, reminds me of when I was younger listening to my dad/uncle's/grandpa stories. Wish I had listened better and more often.

Ok folks, decided to put in a 20' wide 30' long with 4' tall walls using those precast blocks. 8" thick slab. 4000 psi concrete.

Contractor will dig out and then put in a compacted foundation. And a footer ,(I think?). Rebar everywhere. Haven't decided yet if composite rebar.

Slope of 1" every 8'. And saw cut every 6'x10'.

Any glaring mistakes?

Work should start in about a month.

Just one question...why the large undertaking just to store coal? Wouldn't buying a shipping container and torching an access hole in the top work just as well?
