Science is ok unless it confuses the operator before they get there heads wrapped around things. When it comes to burning coal, sometimes slow and simple are what's needed.
Just like me!

Update!! I did not lose the fire, burned as if it was freezing outside. I did crack one of my basement windows just a bit once it got to be 50 degrees. The last time it was this warm and I lost the fire I was very new to coal. I am still very new to coal but now after a few months of trial and error I think I have my little Hitzer figured out. Thanks for all the replies.

I thought I hit replly, but I do not see my post, so here I go again.

UPDATE: I did not lose the fire this weekend with temps up to 64 F. I was suprised that the stove was burning all day as if it was 20 degrees outside. I did take your advice and open a basement window just a crack, I also opened up the ash door vents. Other than that it worked great. Thanks for all the replies.

I have limited experience burining coal, but I think I finally have this little Hitzer figured out.

Yep.. you eliminated the stack effect of the house by moving the neutral pressure plane down to the stove's level.. 😆 well done.
