My brother just bought a used Franco Belge stove. According to the sellers reference the model is a 140.08 ?, but I think from some research it might be a 10 475 stove
Any way we brought the stove home only to find a huge crack in the stove pipe manifold. I got a casting or maybe a part number off the piece. The number I got is 10 475 148. Can anyone help me locate this casting? It has a large lateral crack in the casting. I suspect that someone may have over fired it.

I think your only options are to repair the crack or find another stove. Most likely the stove was accidentally tipped on its back. Over firing will result in the glass being bowed out.

Franco, do you think repairing the crack with furnace cement might work? My brother is planning on setting this up through his fireplace and does have a working co detector.

Drill a small hole at either end of crack to prevent it going further. Furnace cement should work, but you don't want a long length of smoke pipe pressing on it as in a pipe going straight up through the roof. A patch of a strip of stainless steel also could be considered.
Could be welded, but requires a welder with lots of cast iron experience. Mainly brought up to heat slowly and cooled slowly as well.

Look it over again. That won't be the only crack.

Brother said he stuck fiberglass insulation in the cracks and then furnace cement over it.
Brother said he went over the whole stove and besides door gaskets all is sound.
