My Glacier Bay has manual draft control and a secondary air spinner style control. I think they are the same stove.

I do know Glacier Bay and Gibralter are the same kind of like chevy and gmc. My MCC only has the slider on the ashpan door to control air flow.

Cool.. in that case a baro will make the stove much more manageable to control. Ten years ago when I first started burning coal in the hand fed furnace, I was wearing myself out making trips to the basement every few hours to adjust the primary air control. Heat output would yo yo terribly with the changing draft pressure. Once I installed the magical baro, it solved all of that. Smooth steady heat output for 12-24 hours at a time depending on heat demand. I was literally in awe with it's performance.

My MCC does great without a baro, I do still want to install one though. I can go up to 24hr tending with the MCC the way it is now. I'm sure with a baro it will be a lot more efficient. I also want to install a baron on my Allen stoker in the basement that is an 8" flue though so i need both a 6" and 8" baro.

Yeah, with this wind I'm finding the big leaks, for sure.

I still have the original 1940s single pane windows in my house. might as well just open them up with how bad they leak

Oof. My parents built my house in 85? I think. Pole barn style on full basement. Mom replaced Windows before I bought it. But still leaks around some windows, no sill plate sealing, etc. Insulation is fair. But you know what you missed in weather like this.

Insulated window shades would be nice in weather like this. Sitting on the couch next to a picture window is a little chilly.

Yup, where I'm sitting now. Used to have curtains just for the winter. Kids brought home enough cats where we gave up on keeping them up. East side of house. Luckily this stuff is almost perfectly from the northwest.

Burning trash is like letting a kid throw trash out the window. First it starts with a gum wrapper and last it ends with mattresses and tires being thrown into the ditch…except this trash can stink out your neighbors, clog your chimney, and burn down your house.

A stove was made to heat your home with wood or coal, and that’s it. Be safe! Burn only what the stove manufacturer recommends.
