I just got a vansco xc-5000 from a friend for free. He had planned to use it in his barn and never did so I'm putting it in my barn. I believe he got it for free years ago. It's an insert stove but I'm going to use it free standing. I'm not sure if I'm missing a piece (he doesn't have it either) or how the chimney is supposed to attach. It has a rectangle with no flange to attach anything. I have an idea but figured I should get other opinions first. I have some plate steel (1/4" I think) I can make an adapter to 6" or 8" round. And drill / screw it to the stove in the air jacket around the exhaust opening (see picture)

1) would that work?
2) would I be better off with 6" or 8"?

The chimney will go up about 12' then 90 thru the wall, then a tee for clean out and pipe will go up another few feet.

Thanks for any/all input
