Well, two minor vehicle issue before I can finish what I set out to do. Uhg!!!!

Strike 4

Fastenal doesn't take cash. That's un-American!!!
Not to mention, $55 for two drills (in case I break one), a tap, and a tap handle.

TSC, no luck

Ace Hardware, no luck

Gillman's Hardware, no luck

All of that, just my luck. :no1:

I would inspect tap thread before leaving store as some clerks may not understand "bottoming tap"

The one on the right is what I'm looking for. Fastenal had them...wouldn't take my money though. Credit card, or check only.

Going to try wrapping some thread tape around existing screw. If that doesn't work I file off some metal filings and try that. Would try it first, but I misplaced my files.

Makes me crave a pipe full of tobacco, and I don't even smoke. It's a covid thing...

After nearly half a century and covid...I can finally eat olives, can't smell a skunk, and crave the smell of pipe tobacco. Pipers are generally laid back...so time to just relax, order the tap I need, wait on turkey day, and take it easy.
