Can anyone comment on this stove. For several seasons I have wanted to replace my stoker with a Hand Fired stove. I finally have my Wife on board. I have it down to the Hitzer 254 or the Keystoker HF 70. A hopper stove is out of the question as I would have to move the stove too far forward on our Hearth. The Keystoker has better side clearance and would be plug and play. The 254 I would have to use a heat shield on the left side of the stove. I used 85 40lb bags of rice last season. I ran my stove from the 1st week of November till the 3rd week of March. In the shoulder seasons I use a Toyostove Laser 73 to heat. Any input would be great.

You're gonna regret not extendin the hearth to fit a hopper stove!!

I switched from wood to coal last year. I purchased a HF70 after talking directly to Don the owner of Keystoker. They built my stove with a cook top and we have used it often. The stove itself is a pleasure to use. Until it gets into the 20's I only have to tend it once a day. Colder than that it's twice a day. Once you learn the stove a 40 pound bag of coal should last 24 hours down into the teens. I heat 2100sq ft. Last year I used 2 tons of coal/80 bags. I could not be happier with it.

I am sorry but the above was supposed to be a pic of. my stove. It is a pic I used in the football pool I belong to. I don't know how to delete it.

The Keystoker has a few more options, gizmo's, better looking (my opinion). Hitzer replacement parts if ever needed are probably cheaper. Its really a tossup. Let your wife decide which one and you wont be wrong.

Got what I would consider a good price on the hf70. $2480 out the door with tax and they will deliver. About $200 more than the 254. Will most likely order by the weekend.

Is your stove easy to idle down and hold a fire?Twisted shackle wrote: ↑Wed. Sep. 22, 2021 6:02 amI switched from wood to coal last year. Pics of stove please. Inside and out. Make a YouTube video too if you can. Would like to see that.

Had my dealer suggest I get the hf 90. I still think this stove will be too big and harder to idle low?
