I have an opportunity to purchase a coal burning stove. First one I've ever owned so have several questions. What do I need to looking for. Possible issues or problems? Liners? The sellers post says coal burning stove, will it burn wood? Could it burn wood? BTW it is a King-o-Heat manufacturing, not sure of the year.

We purchased our DS Coal stove this last spring and had a difficult time with getting the correct fuel. Here in Montana we have access to ONLY Bituminous Coal. We've heard many downsides to the use of Bit coal but we have had NO problems at all. As for burning wood, something I've done for the most of my 74 years, the stove without doubt burns that fuel more efficiently than ANY wood stove I've ever used. 20 pounds of coal (Bit) will keep out home at 75 degrees for 15 hours and @ $55.50 per ton that's not so bad.
