We went to one of the local stores to get a few bags of nut coal to top off my supply. Not all the stores around here carry coal so we had to drive 20 minutes. They were out in front so I just backed up to the pallet and threw them in. So far I haven't had any problems with there coal. It burns good and a lot of heat.

Mine looked and smelled terrible but it did burn very good this year and worth every penny when its on sale. I can tell the difference in smell in my house now that Im back to Blaschak, much better. I think its the oil TSC coal has on it but not positive. Even pails close to the stove start smelling from the heat. It doesnt chase me out of the house but its there.
Member Hoytman has mentioned there are a lot more blues burning with it and I agree with him.
Yours was bagged last year or before. This years mostly has a blue and white bag with no handle. I had the blue ones this time. They have been getting terrible reviews on their website this year but a lot of them are from blacksmiths or people using it wrong so they dont count.

TSC does not sell it anywhere near here, but I eventually persuaded my nearby store to order it for me--I agreed to buy it a pallet at a time (one ton). I think she had to get permission brom the regional office or the buyer's office, but when they told them they had a customer who had a coal-only stove, they agreed. There is a member here in Coalpail who gets it from TSC in Alabama (!), and others far from coal country too.N2wly wrote: ↑Sun. I got one batch from Lowes, but they dropped it. (They transferred it from another store only because I called their online customer service--the local store could not be bothered. Their coal did not seem as good to me--sacks were broken and leaking and the product probably tossed around (with more fines and pebbles).
I have been pleased with my local TSC coal and the service too. They have seasonal ads where everything is 10% off for regular customers. I did have a bag that smelled--it was a newer bag and the coal was still wet, so I think the processing wash used soured water. The older bags that were dried out never smelled. If using coal that has not dried out, I use two hods. When I use one, I fill it and set it behind the other. That way there is always a dry bucket to use. Some people poke holes in the bags when they get them to air them out.
