Why do you want a Mark II...
I might know how to get one if you decide against the SCC...

My BB does well heating the house but the SCC is about the same size and when we hit the really cold weather it needed help from the oil boiler a few times during the night while running at 400-450.CapeCoaler wrote: ↑Sat. Mar. 06, 2021 7:36 pmWhy do you want a Mark II...

I don't know btu difference between the two, but I like the looks of those grates better than the ones in my Mark II. On flip side I like the Mark s baffle setup better. Sorry, probably doesn't help you any. Fwiw, bird in the hand scenario works for me.

So looking for a second stove to keep the oil off on the cold snaps...
Operational spare...
I have a Mark II looking for a new home if you prefer the Mark II...
Gibraltar has a very robust grate system...
Banking bar can get warped if over heated...
The Mark II easily took 2 bags of Santa Nut coal when filling from a total clean out...
If the SCC is close and easy to move, grab it and if you fall out of love with it...

Actually I was going to replace the BB for a little bit larger stove. All three stoves BB, SCC and Mark II are two bricks deep. However, the BB is only about 3-1/2 wide due to the corner overlap. The SSC is four wide and mark II about 4-1/4 to 4-1/2.
Granted the BB heated our 1800 split excellent in 15-30 temp days. The warmth is much nicer then baseboard heat. I’m concerned with the week long cold snaps like we had this year. The 0 degree day with -22 wind chills. Living on the high side of city, with our backs to wachusett mountain we noticed after a few years, we get colder temps and a few more inches of snow then say areas on the southern side of the city.
This was the reason I picked up a HFH 70. It was priced at where I couldn’t say no. Its my lose because the flue height is to tall If you know anyone looking for one. The top glass was broken but was reasonably priced from the factory.

It’s home and in pieces. It will be a while until I can find time to clean, sand, paint and reassemble.
