I use those bags to get a hot fire going then dump the damp kitchen trash in. It always burns it to ash.
When I was in high school we used to go out to an old closed road, light a tire and have a party.

I stay with this model because of the value (capability/quality/cost). For $1,300... Nothing else I could find even comes close.waytomany?s wrote: ↑Fri. I wonder if I should bite the bullet and spend 2 G more to buy something that looks more heavy duty. Dunno.
The Hitzer 82FA can put out extreme amounts of heat when needed. I have upgraded my duct work system since install, so I never need more than 7 bags a day (this winter... on the coldest/windy days).
I also will only use a hand fired because of potential power outages, and yes I have a house generator.

I wish I could replace my down draft oil furnace (in a closet) with one of those units and somehow hook it to my duct work that goes down through the floor and through the crawl space to the registers.

I typically buy 10 ton. Not burning it all over a few years and the new duct work, I bought 6 ton for this winter.

I assume you buy bulk, roughly how many pounds does it take on startup?

I buy bagged, haven't put in a concrete pad for bulk yet. I hire that Amish man's 3 boys to stack it in my basement (my basement is YUGE!)waytomany?s wrote: ↑Fri. Mar. 05, 2021 6:35 pmI assume you buy bulk, roughly how many pounds does it take on startup?
The furnace holds 5 (200lbs) bags chuck full. I think it is rated to hold 4 bags, but not hard to heap it in.

Another item, in relation to the OP,
I have found that 3D printer mistakes (it's not me, I swear) also burn nicely.

What about clothing? I've got at least 8 bags of kids clothing that we had to keep, ya know, just in case.
