I'm interested in this insert to replace my pellet stove for heat back up.. The tag says model 503. Doesn't Hitzer make a 503 insert??

Yes Lee. Helluva a price for that stove. You know what to look for if it’s been abused. Not sure what that tag is both my Hitzer stoves tags say Hitzer. Maybe they made some for another company. Sure looks like the 503 Hitzer. I love my 983 insert! It’s the big brother.

Warnock Hersey is the test lab that did the test to the UL standard identified on the plate.

Can 2 guys lift it?

Right I think it's a steal if no issues.

Yeah it’s manageable with two guys. A good dolly and some ramps will have it loaded in no time.

what’s better then $85, is a free 503. CapeCoaler just picked one up, I would message him.

Don’t forget this needs electric to run the fan.

Good idea he’s a expert on the 503. It looks like the older model from the picture, without the built in damper.

I'm going to look at it tomorrow. He says everything moves freely. There's still coal on the grates. It came with a house purchase so I don't think he knows anything about the stove, use wise..

Yeah man, I intend to buy it unless I see something glaringly wrong with it. I've wanted to replace that pellet stove with a coal insert for years, and here's my chance.

Just grab that bad boy...
Can not go wrong at that price...
Easy to move with just one person and a dolly...
Tilt it back and slide a dolly under strap it to the dolly and off you go...
About 400 pounds when you strip it down...
Two guys if you will just lift it...
HD hand truck will do also...
Stairs and a hand truck with a second person...
Fits through a 32" door with out issues...
Older model has a hockey puck to reduce draft...
Mine was free and very nice indeed with the draft damper...
Older style works just fine...
No bi-metallic just the ash door vents and an adjustable over fire air vent/slide...
Guess I must post a picture album now...

I have faith that you can add any type of gadget on it that you want to. Just get it, lol Its steel so almost anything short of serious rot should be repairable.
