Flower shaped nuts are called Rosetts. They most likely went on mica doors on the outside. They are 5 dollars each, if you can find someone who has extras.

Thanks for the clean up tips. That’s just what I needed to know. Yes the top swings. Some of the mica has cracks but it doesn’t look like it’s anything that is completely open. I’ll need to get some anyway. I’m not sure it will clean up enough to see through. I’ve got a few pieces I’ve stashed away somewhere, just have to dig it out. It’s not enough to replace them all but maybe some of the ones with bad cracks.

I better start researching lining the pot. It looks pretty good. Want to keep it that way.

Not any expert but "suspended firepots" do not get lined...being as it is suspended, air is always moving on all sides. Some stove owners might have a spare pot re-cast, but do compensate for shirinkage in the new cast.
Sure someone will chime in if I mis-spoke.

Mac, back in the day, grates and firepots were disposable items. Something broke or cracked, just order a new one.

Firepots "should" have some kind of liner. If you want them to last another 100 years.

I was thinking 1/2” thick liner and not covering the half radius slots in the bottom. It’s 16” and that will knock it down to 15”. I really don’t want to go any smaller.

I wonder what it costs to get a spare one cast? Who does that?

The top lid is kind of cumbersome. It only has one hinge pin cast into and a thumb latch to try to pivot it. I’ll have to rest my hand on the top of the stove to get enough leverage to pivot that lid up. It will also slide out of its hinge while doing this if not careful. I can see that being a pain when it’s hot. It also has an odd shape to it. Strange stove but I like it.

I also found a crack in a small apron that must have occurred during the journey home. I came down 43 and that road is probably the worst road in the US. I cringed the whole way. I’m surprised that this is the only damage that happened.

Can't see much in your pics.

Lift out the magazine to see in front of stove thru load door. Then play with levers.

Lever one way sends gases up and out to chimney. The other way sends gases down the back pipe, then under ash pan, then up the opposite side of back pipe to up and out chimney.

What writing is on that lever. Between sheetmetal jacket and back pipe??

Fig, I see something real nice hiding under that dust there. Can't wait to see it all cleaned up.
Is that damper/flapper system that you have something that is common on coal stoves? It seems like it would have clogging issues with flyash.

It’s what is known as a base burner. The flaps enable the flue gases to be redirected under the burn pot to extract more heat. I think some might even be able to re-burn flue gases but I’m not sure. I’m not really all that familiar with them.
