1st time coal user please help me out

Stove temp too low. Also, my stove seemed to like pea better as opposed to nut for some reason. Which I think relates to stove temp. I work 12 hour shifts, and pea seems to be still running hotter as opposed to nut that I tried for a couple of years. Nut really seemed to give me a lot of issues, but I was new to the game, so maybe it was me.
