Hand Fed Coal Boiler: DS Coal Boiler #9158
Coal Size/Type: Nut
Other Heating: Oil Boiler

We use a DS Coal Boiler (model # 9158), have been for 6 years. We are having an issue this year with big clinkers when the ash is shook down. They are getting stuck in the grates, allowing the good, hot coals to drop into the ash pan. Is this due to not enough heat or too much slag or slate? We get our coal from Calvin Lenig's in Coal Township, PA. We have never had an issue with coal from there, but they were having trouble getting coal to process this year and we had to go back twice to get the full 3.5 tons we needed. If anyone needs more info, let me know. Thanks!
