Heat and cool about 4k sq ft. Basement and two levels. I used the wood really as supplimental heat. But yes it would warm the whole house. Probably 90 in the basement 72 in the first floor and 70 on top. House is air tight and really well insulated.

Well, Mark III is rated 92,000 but and brochure show heating area 1900 to 4900 square feet. If you're well insulated and can get heat to move around where you want it, it seems to have the potential you need. Keep us updated, I'm curious to see how it goes.

Anyone know about how far I should leave the dial spun out?

I have that same thermo and it is about 50° low from my temp gun. That said I would keep it in the mid yellow range for a start, about 350°. New stove has some cook off and will groan some. Once it seems to settle I would crank up the dial and see how she climbs. I don't know your stove so I can't give you advice on # settings but don't get too hung up on that. No 2 stoves act the same more often than not.

I just checked, she is burning at 350 now according to the magnet thermo. I need to get a Lazer to check for sure. I believe I have officially started my first coal fire. The stove is full and burning as I guess it should.

Coal needs a deep bed... Fill that to the top of the bricks and then heap it up in the middle.

Ahh ok. It's too the brick at the door. So heap in the middle? I will put more on and repost.

Added more in the middle probably #20. Will check it in a bit to see how it looks. That blashack I got from the dealer is pretty wet. I am going to construct a bin for it outside and unbag it so it can dry out. I think for this season I will just have to deal with it.
