My father in law passed away on Tuesday of this week, and he was after me for a while to take the stove to our house.

The story I’ve been told was they bought it at an auction for $11.00 in 1954. They built the cabin in 1955 and used the stove for a couple of years. Then they went to an oil stove, then natural gas to heat the cabin. It’s been in their living room since the late 50’s. I guess it will end up in our sun room, don’t know if I’ll hook it up. Dennis

Nice stove... Won't try talking you into anything. Found this thread on the Summit 813. Probably a few more where this came from : Any Info on Summit 813 (Pictures)

Sorry for your loss Dennis.
My limited knowledge says it's a "Signal Oak" style stove. It's very nice!

I too am sorry to hear of your loss. It is nice to know the history of the stove and keep it in the family.

Condolences P. Having the stove set up and used would be a nice way to remember him.

I’m not on Facebook, don’t know.

Our sunroom is only 13’x13’ and my wife has it pretty full of furniture. I don’t know if I could finagle a corner from her to place it. That would be the ideal spot for when the boiler isn’t fired up. There’s radiant heat in the floor of the sunroom.
