First they use cheep nuts and bolts. They all broke Hopper feed door is a joke to small. Also had to tweek ash door lach so it would work easier hooper suppose to act as a baffle no enough to much heat up the pipe. All you hear is there cheeper then this one and that one. Well you only get what you pay for.

You have all winter to think about it Dozer. My offer still stands. I'd swap now if you wanted. You can pull the hopper out, install a pipe damper, and have your batch fed, hand fired stove. By the way, that's exactly how I'm running the stove now....

Put the Harman you like so well in the house, and the D.S. in your garage.... Nothing wrong with my D.S.. It even has the optional warming shelf.

I have a manual pipe damper in it now. After winter I'm just going to make a baffle plate for it.

It's not a bad stove. It's actually a good stove if used in the right application, as in a well insulated home, where one would want to keep it heated to tee shirt temps 24/7. As another member had done, a fan mod would turn that stove into a different animal. It does not fit my application very well. I need a performance stove for my application. One that can be idled down Low, low when I'm not in the shop. Then, without touching any settings, the clicking on of the circulator fan brings it to life, and she cranks heat. The whole shop is warmed up in 20 minutes. That perfect match stove was the Hitzer 30-95. I should have kept it. I know where it is. Last I knew, the new owner still has an ear to ear grin....

Yep, they're built by the same people that make the50-93. If ya don't like that, ya won't like the 983--same cheap bolts, door configurations, etc!!

Dozer, The reason for this forum is people helping people burn coal. Now you just can't disregard decades of combined experience of forum members based on your one bad episode with a well respected stove. Hitzer is a fine product period!!! IT's your own damn fault that you didn't listen to reason, on how to run that 50-93. Freetown Fred is probably your best source for info on running that beast. However you seem to disregard his advice. He could have had you up & running within 24 hrs ifn you just FKN LISTENED!!!!! Now you seem to be exploring other avenues; & nobody on here wants to waste their time trying to reason with a mule!!! When you come to your senses and are willing to listen let us know!! But until then see ya later.
Jim
