I will be replacing my wood insert with a coal insert. I had my wood insert for 16 years and was installed with a SS liner up the chimney. Liner is in good condition.

With the new coal insert, will I be OK leaving the current liner in the chimney and monitor it annually? Would rather not spend the money now on the new liner and plan to be on the house for another 5 years.

Thx.

Leave the liner and start and end each season with a wood fire. Get a manometer to monitor draft.
