I just picked up this used Harman elite Insert. I don’t know a lot about them but have been reading trying to learn about them. After looking closer it appears that I may be missing the baffle plate ? I’m. Not sure if this stove should have one but I assume it should be there. If someone could help me out here I would appreciate it. Want to make sure I’m not screwed with this used stove. Can this be replaced if missing? Can it be used without ? Did i get ripped off for $700. Thanks in advance.

If the grates are straight and the glass is good...
Ya did fine...
The fans all work...
Looks to be in good shape...
Might have gotten down to $500 if they needed cash and wanted it gone fast...
Bot not ripped off at $700...
I payed $300 for a older Hitzer insert but thy were tired of dealing with stupid tire kickers...
The hole you see is an access hole...
So you can lock in the flue adapter...
Should be a steel blank that blocks the hole...

That is what I thought. The steel plate is missing. Any idea where to find one ? I have been searching online for two days and no luck. I have been searching for top baffle plate . TIA

Not the baffle plate that is welded in...
Just the cover for the hole...
It is usually floating inside the baffle...
Have you asked the seller if they have it somewhere safe...
Had to move it to remove insert...

Gotcha. Baffle hole cover.
I did ask the seller , but they just bought the house and removed the stove to sell it. Said it was not there when they removed the stove. Any idea where I can get a replacement ? Thanks

This link appears to be a parts list -- a good thing to download and save, along with the user manual CapeCoaler pointed you to. If you can identify the part number, try a Harman or Legacy dealer and see if they can order it. If not, it doesn't look too complicated, maybe you could have one fashioned locally. Even lightweight steel from Lowes, that you can cut with tin snips, might work -- seal the edges with some flat fiberglass gasket if necessary -- very easy to replace annually if it gets brittle. Just something simple to block the hole.

Incidentally, that port looks very useful for vacuuming out behind the baffle every spring. I see the ashes are collecting below the flue opening, just like in my old Harman Mark 1.

Oh man, i love that blue!! you got a nice stove, that parts list is nice to have, i actually did have to rebuild the baffle and man was it solid!! just got done painting mine for my summer rebuild and wanted to try something diffrent, so i painted the 1/4" stove steel Metallic Blue. I left the cast iron doors natural black polish and didn't shine the brass too much I'll see if it works or clashes. I don't think ill like it with last year's metallic black blower wings, but ill just change it back next year. Did anyone grab that Hitzer 983 in Pittsburgh?
