Because of multi-tasking, I've become very irresponsible lately when tending my G111. After a long day at work, 1st thing I do when returning home, is to poke a few ashes thru the clinker door, open the dampers, and give it a couple mins to start breathing again. While I'm waiting, I'll let the dog out, fire-up the computer, and start poking around, before getting back to the stove. Just recently, I've found myself forgetting the stove was open, only to return to a fire breathing dragon. I can only blame myself, but I really don't have the time to sit in frt of it...waiting. I have used an egg timer mostly, to remind me,but a few times I haven't.
My question is, is there some type of thermal registering devise that I can carry an adapter to it on me, that'll wack me in the head, when it starts to over temp? I'm getting pretty frustrated with myself. Thanks.

http://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_page=produ ... cts_id=292 This may help. Probably could be adapted to a transmitter for a shock collar.

I too am easily distracted, so I set the countdown timer on my iPhone for 10-30 mins depending on the stove status. Saved my stove from dragon status often! I’ve also used my cheap Casio watch if I’m phoneless. It too has a countdown timer.

Good ideas Rich. Unfortunately, I don't have a cell phone, or a wrist watch, for that matter. I use to have a Craftsman pocket watch that the wife gave me as a present one year, but it too has gone away. Still trying to figure out the dog collar warning.

I use a count down digital kitchen timer I got at Walmart. Works great for timing homemade french fries or reminding me the draft on the stove needs my attention.

There are numerous wireless meat thermometers out there will beep you when they reach a preset temp...

Mr. McG, gutta hand it to ya. You found me this little device, and I ordered it Sun., and like "magic", it's on my door step today. Isn't modern technology wonderful? (Well, some of it anyway.)
I already used it when servicing the 111 today after work, and the rope making it portable, (and annoying hanging on my neck....which is what I needed) kept me focused on the open stove, while I was multi-tasking around the house. Worked splendidly. Thanks again for the idea.

You got that right Larry. I worry about the bottom support plate under the suspended pot. It looks to be an inherently weak design, that if I can remember correctly, had a couple areas that had already been rewelded when I had it apart. It is amazing how much abuse these stoves can tolerate, yet still function. I don't want ta be the one to over extend it tho.
