Hand Fed Coal Stove: warm morning 455(?)
Coal Size/Type: stove/nut

Post by neilklifford » Thu. Jan. 31, 2019 1:47 pm

good afternoon all
i recently moved in w my mother to take care of her after my fathers passing,we r located in the Hazleton area. The coalstove we have,we hav had forever, since i guess when i was ten,now 48. It is a.Warm Morning stove and a real winner. It burns and throws heat like a monster, only thing is if it goes out,it reaalllyyy sucks to relight.
Well i cant figure out what model it is,it has front top load thru one big door, then the firebox which holds about #50 and has the.special shaped brick on the four corners for the fire to run thru, bottom ash dump,i guess 6" pipe, some sort of vent on the rite side that feeds the firebox. i want to figure out the model so i can use it too its full potential,i have taken care of it,feeding etc, all my life off and on,now it is my full responsibility and i wamt to make sure im using and burning it to its maximum. Thank you in advance

Awesome little stoves. It’s amazing how much heat they can put out but can be throttled back to idle along to just barely stay lit. Take good care of it, it will take care of you.

The WM 414 might not have anything external to say what it is. Mine doesn’t. But check the casting number inside the top door, if it’s a WM 414 it will say so right there.

I have one and it took a while to fine tune my techniques. Sure, it puts out a LOT of heat but getting it to maintain that nonstop with my particular installation took a month of experimenting. This morning the kitchen was 75 degrees with a deep bed of red hot coals greeting me.
Bliss? You bet!

Don

I have a WM 120 I'd love to see a spec sheet for it. What is the BTU rating?
