hopper makes for a better hand fed...
No puff backs if you maintain the hopper load...
No drop off in output from a new load of coal...
No issues with fines from a load of coal...
What do you do with your fine stuff?

i feel like i can perfectly fill the stove the way i want to for the conditions the next 12-24 hours will bring. i can layer with different size coal, putting smaller on top and some fines down the middle creating a custom burn. gravity fed just wouldnt do it for me. lol

You can do the same thing with a hopper...
Just have to plan properly...
Plus with with 3 kids @ 6 and 5...
extra time with the stove is not an option...

i hear ya man i have 3 kids also, 1 and a half year old, 2 and a half year old, and a 7 year old. the option i dont have is buying a new stove when the gibraltar is going to pretty much out live me. another 5 minutes to shovel some coal in has turned into quite the art in my book. hahahaCapeCoaler wrote: ↑Fri.
