Jack, you remind me of my late grandpa. Good on you!

That music link fits me fine. Blues is great...specially the gospel kind.

Heard my grandparents sing that inspirational many times growing up and heading home with them after church. I'm not from the south, but grandparents were...and it's instilled in all of us...and proud of it. Seen my great Aunt Mary break coal many times as a kid. I can still recall looking out the bedroom window right about day light...over looking the route from London to Manchester, seeing the headlights down on the road, the fog in the valley, hearing those old roosters uh crowin', all while listening to the coal train whistle in the distance coming our way.

My dear old great Uncle Dill used to walk those railroad tracks many uh time...drunker than a skunk and singin' "Amazing Grace...how sweet the sound"...that was until he turned all over to the Lord above and got saved. Heard and seen him kneel and pray many uh time near that old Warm Morning stove just before bedtime. People don't hardly do that anymore...me included. Shame on me!

Thanks for the tour down memory lane. It's brought happy tears to my eyes.

Thanks gardener, thanks Jack!

That's a pretty interesting video.

Here's another independent anthracite mine video. It's the R&R mine, I love the part where he says 'I'll go start the fan".

Den034071 (Jack)

I watched the video. Those large chunks of coal you got, how do they bring those up at the mine, at least in the video the times the bucket came up it looked like small pieces in the bucket.

Do they have a cart they load up and bring it up the access path?
or do they specially load the bucket with the large chunks you got?

take a real good look at that mug, jack is also still messing around on roofs and doing masonry too.

"not to many of his age are doing any of it."

And hardly any of a young age doing it.
