Hello all, thank you for accepting me into the group. Just some background (you can skip to this) My daddy was a Guatalcanal Marine, and we loved our hand-fed coal stove. Now I'm a hand feeder. Any problems with that? Good. Hahaha. My current stove is a 44 year old Penn Royal Dutches I, or should I say, "was". Grate castings cracked and warped, so grates now stuck in casting. That will be a future post. (here's the deal) ... I just ordered a new Hitzer 50-93 online, but I'm not sure how the doors will swing. I would prefer to have the hinges on the left. Is it possible to reconfigure them? Thanks.

Ask the party you ordered from. It may be possible for the factory to re-position the door as you wish.

Thanks. I'm a little surprised this hasn't come up. Getting burnt coal out means digging in there, and my left shoulder is so shot so I have to dig with my right arm. In every photo I've ever seen, the hinges are on the left. Every photo, that is, except the one on the Lehman's website, where I just ordered the stove. It also shows the brass door, but for $1599, that just cannot be. I think the photo is wrong, and backwards.

My 50-93 has the hinges on the left. Now that I think about it, my 30-95 in the garage has the hinges on the left as well.

Thanks all, I feel better now. Now I just have to figure out how to unload this 425lb beast and set her on her spot. It's like a coal eatin' iron box full of hernias.

Call some movers or ask your dealer about doing it. Even if its a couple hundred dollars its better than a week or longer recovering from back problems.

Take the hopper out and if the door comes off easily do that too, even if someone else moves it. Lightens it up some anyway.
