Hi everyone,
Just picked up a Harmon Mark 3 Magnafire Tripple frame for $100 used.
I am repainting the stove and polishing the brass on it etc.
My question is this too big of a stove for a 12 by 12 living room? The blower holes would be facing into hallway and rest of house.

I’d hate to put this beauty with all that brass in the basement.

In addition to making sure the grates are not warped, check on the condition of the baffle on top of the firebox. They tend to warp and buckle with age and overfiring and could compromise the sidewalls.

It has the ability to throw the heat!! You may need window shades if you are going to sit in the LR in your underwear all winter!! You can run it pretty low too but the trade off is getting the needed heat to the rest of the house.

That is a GREAT deal if the baffle is not warped!

Baffle is warped and getting repaired as we speak.
One of the shaker grates is warped by 1/4 “ but the shaker grates are working good.
I’ll be replacing some of the fire bricks and the glass. It’s a shame that it has to go in the basement because of the heat it puts out.
Can the glass be refinished or are they a done deal.
Thanks for the replies.

Put that beauty in living room...living room is perfect!!!
Place small fans in hall opposite ends from each other. pointed to blow cooler floor air down the hall and towards LR./Harmon.
Heated air will travel back the hall over top of fan and replace a equal amount of cool air that was removed.

Forget pushing heated air by fan...only push the cooler floor air towards the general direction of the stove, you will heat that whole house floor level with little effort.
For a second floor level you only need add another fan to push cool floor air down the stairs to stove level and it get's replaced by heated air...easy, peasey. 12x12 is a perfect size room. ;)

Most basement waste most of the heat you work hard for through cement walls and cement floors...little is left to make much difference upstairs.

If you give this a shot, do come back with your results and report them.
