Enjoyed your story and nicely written Don. As I recall there's a fair amount of info on the forum on the Warm Morning stoves and re-badged WMs. That one you have looks to be in good shape. Great to see it in service.

Don,
Yes, I've heard of the Adirondack Steamer group, and been out on Louden Rd for day drives, but haven't been there. Would love to come meet and see the trains. It's been years since I've done anything like that.

I have ridden on the Long Island Live Steamers trains when I lived down there. http://lilivesteamers.org/ A late machinist friend from Elmira used to cast and machine parts for the Finger Lakes Live Steamers. I've met some of them.

It's fascinating all that working detail and the power some of those engines have !!!!

Btw, Don, how much coal does yours use and how long does it burn?

Here's a Warm Morning in MO for everyone to ogle. It's for sale and I'm keeping an eye on it for my living room. Needs to be sanded and painted with some high heat enamel. I'm looking at a King O Heat, too, but this one would look fine with a new face lift.

I ran one identical to that for years on hard nut.... it is currently in storage awaiting its call to duty again one day. At any rate mine ran on a 5-gallon bucket per day and it was not unusual to go 24 hours without tending. That particular stove can be throttled back to barely burn but they can put out some very serious heat too.

Warm Mornings can run very well on bituminous too if you like that option.

CoalJockey Thanks for your info; that's good to know about the larger WM that I posted.

Donb I was wondering how much coal your kitchen WM uses.

Coaljockey,
It uses about a ‘bucket a day’. My bucket is the usual coal hod as depicted by the Coalpail icon. I ran my 414 in the attached kitchen through the shoulder season with the main house warmed by the propain boiler.

Since Thanksgiving I’ve been using the big Chappee which is piped into the hot water baseboard along side the propain boiler. The 414 just burns papers now a few times a week. I expect it’ll see more use in late March and into April.
