They're metal "louvers" and not bricks and move super heated air back down below from the top of the fire.

And yes, was borrowed from the old Riteway Stove design from back in the 70's. ;)

Thanks, my neighbor made me an offer I couldn't refuse and then delivered it! My wife really wanted a stove in the living room but I wanted a work horse in the basement, win/win in my book!

Thanks, great read. I think this will surpass the Harman for overall heat for the house and the Harman can spend the rest of its life looking pretty in the living room!!
