Home insurance with old stove

Hi everyone. Hoping you could help. My fiancé has an old farm house in PA. There is a wood / coal stove in the kitchen. Tried to get homeowners insurance and they said we couldn’t because the stove is not UL rated. I know many people on this forum have old stoves. Is this the case? I appreciate your help.

It’s a small free standing stove with 4 legs and it says FATSO on the front. I tried to attach a pic.

You have an agent with no knowledge of old stoves and its possible you cannot change his mind, in which case you can look for a new company. Here are search results that you can read thru.

My insurance company just asked me if it passes fire codes on install. (NFPA 2011) told them yes and had fire chief look at it after printing code out for him. It's a small town and everyone knows everyone so was pretty simple to do don't know if that is your case. For whatever it's worth I have Liberty Mutual and while not the cheapest do seem reasonably honest as insurance companies go. Had a recent claim for driven rain damage and paid it without a bunch of BS or haggling plus money made sense.

I had a similar problem with my insurance company. I shopped around and found a carrier that would insure us.
