Hand Fed Coal Stove: Godin
Other Heating: Electric ( with a goal of never using)

A piece of my Godin broke off last night and I am not sure if I have to have it repaired right now or if I can keep operating the stove until the season is over and then have the repair done. It is the inside”cover” where the coal is fed. Usually when I open the top there is a full cover and then when I open the full cover there is a smaller cover which sits inside. The smaller inside cover is what fell off. The coal is still fully covered when the tops are closed. Can this repair wait??

That inner cover is a heat shield. I would run the stove without it, but not at a high level.

Everything appears to be there except the hinge pin. Whatever remains of the pin has to be drilled out and a new pin inserted. 5/16 and 8mm are identical if that is the size of the pin.

What would we use to drill out the pin?

Its soft steel so any drill of the right size. First drill with a drill half the size. Possibly it can be punched out, but be careful.

If you are not comfortable drilling out the pin, your local machine shop should be happy to take care of it.
