If you put a dress on that stove and put it in a bar, at midnight it would have several offers ;) Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
And alcohol has no scruples.

I was think'in the same thing!

Yup, it is a coal burner. The grate shaking crank handle is sticking out the side and as M.A. pointed out, it has a damper in the cast flue elbow. Looks like this was probably a small furnace that had sheet metal around all the cast iron. Whats left of the sheet metal base reminds me of a Homart coal furnace.

I'm thinkin it had a sheet metal body from lookin at the base--not a clue as to make other then she looks like a heatin beast. Love the grate handle!!!!!!!!!! LOL
I agree Fred. Sheet metal is missing. A lot of them old furnaces had no bottom on them. They set on the ground. The ash would fall through the grate, and directly on the ground. They'd be really hot all the way to bottom. The one in the picture looks to have a plate on the bottom. The entire unit sets up on a base for air circulation. Could be a home made base. Good fit if it is..... No Doubt, it's an old furnace.

It is a parlor furnace . Someone has removed the faux wood grain exterior and just using what is left. With the sheet metal surround they are great but ugly heaters.

I agree, looks like an old Heatrola or something of that nature with the exterior shell removed..
