- Stoker Coal Boiler: AHS S130 Coal Gun
- Coal Size/Type: Lehigh Anthracite Pea
- Other Heating: Resistance Boiler (13.5 KW), ComfortMax 75
In a recent phone conversation I had with DS Machine I casually asked if my ComfortMax 75 coal stove would work well with bituminous coal, and the immediate response was that burning bit coal in a DS Machine stove voids the factory warranty.

They did not elaborate, and our conversation immediately moved to other topics (which were related to an email I sent them). The bit inquiry was not part of the series of questions for which they called me to answer my email related questions.

far to much volatiles and the average unschooled home owner would no doubt blow it up and have a fire claim.
is the interest simply budgetary ? around me, high quality Bit is even more expensive than Anth even in bulk.

Living here in the Appalachian Mountains you can get quality Bit anywhere from $75 to $125 a ton. Bagged anthracite $365 a ton. Economics 101 for me Burn the Bit! If I'm not mistaken William said the last true Bituminous made stove was the Warm Mornings. I run 5 to 6 ton a year through a warm morning. I have another chimney and sitting on 2 of the best anthercite burning stoves ever made GW#8 and a Oakvale Andes Baseheater.Hope to hook one up next winter and burn some Anthersite when temps get real low. If you want to burn bit find you a good used Warm Morning.

Haha! True story lol. Although I do admit my idea of going nuclear is over the load door temp passing 500 degrees. I just have no need or desire to run that hot. When the fire raged on me a couple times it would just get more angry when I attempted to reign it in. Maybe other bit users are more acclimated to seeing those high temps and raging fires, it just done scared the hell outta me.windyhill4.2 wrote: ↑Fri.
