I think with your concern about dust the simplest formula you will find is putting coal in pails outside and oil it, have several, maybe 4 pails, to give the oil time to cover the whole thing before dumping it in..... or spend a couple hundred on gadgets that wont work as well.
Your really not going to know what you need until you burn for a few days and a few days of dust will be nothing. Give it a try! (with what you have)

My best initial guess of the capacity for the scuttle with the handle at the top is 27.5 lbs of nut.
This is based upon several reviewers stating that they can get 20 lbs. of wood pellets into it. And wood pellets compressed to an average of 41.5 lbs./cu-ft. And nut at 57 lbs/cu-ft.
20 x 57/41.5 = 27.47 lbs.

I'd prefer the chute be mounted inside the pail so that any remnant dust on the chute will slide back into the pail. Or I suppose you could run a bead of silicone to seal the chute against the pail.McGiever wrote: ↑Wed. Feb. 07, 2018 10:31 pmPost by Devil505 - Best Way to Fill Coal Hod From Coal Bags?

The narrow scuttles are great for loading the G6.
