Ha! So you finally admit it! I knew it was more than 3 ton per year, but I wasn't expecting 30!

Why didn't you buy a 50-93? Simply open the hopper door, and fill it up. So much less monkeying. Seriously, What made you choose the 354 over the 50-93?

$300 a ton easy to mess up typing on my phone with fat fingers..... I'll tell ya though loving the coal my floors haven't been warm since I built the house it in 2007. Ran elect and ductless with heat pump sucked. Buddy gave me old Haas and sohn Juno so hooked that up and started with this forum. People got me going with that but wasn't near what I needed lucky for me when I did window door gasket had little gap like 1/32" where they met using crap gasket black rutland cooked hole in hopper. Thought of fixing part was available but noticed crack in cast door hinge. So read some and because of this site I decided on 50-93 I'll be good for ever with it.... Thanks all..... $300 a ton isn't cutting it like most of you I'm gonna burn 3 to 4 ton a year. If I can find a good deal this year I'll get a dump truck and grab me 4yr worth. What isn't right is I can get crushed stone for $15 a ton, same equip hauling and crushing. Coal not even hard, for $300 a ton I bet everybody doing a hard day's work to get it out the ground aren't getting their fare share of that deal....

In regard to hopper.. I thinking of getting this stove its new never used, to replace wood stove for hunting camp. Don't you put just as much coal in as hopper holds but ramp it or pile it in middle. Haven't searched much or read up on it but since you mention hopper question maybe get some quick info it looks cool price is right but concerned with no hopper or window . My kids think I'm going coal crazy but that just don't want to move any stoves... That the only down side but when there there they aren't moving for a long time.

I don't ever use the fan on my 50-93. I feel it doesn't heat as well in my house. I'd rather run the stove at 550 than at 400 with the fan on

Yeah I put vents in above stove and been running without blower working much better I was leaving basement door open now closed. With blower off heat rises right up and have ceiling fan on in the room with the new floor vents everything working perfect now for my setup. With it only 15-25 outside house at 72 running 450 stove temp. Happy with coal use too. Was at outdoor show in pa for last two days and on my way home stopped at reading coal bagging facility and got a ton for $200 on way home. Next season I'll make sure I have my coal at decent price ready to go... Reading bagging facility 302 Morea Rd, Frackville, PA 17931 if anyone needs info. Didn't ask price for loose...
