Here we go again. 10 hrs later, and yet, another wimpy pot, not worth saving. This ash contamination, is "kicking" my.... southern hemisphere.

But if you check out my future posts to my 111 thread, I'll have a host of new pics detailing my findings. it's a little late tonite, but tomorrow, I'll continue, my continuation.

Only 10 hours, huh.... geez. Were you running it really hot or doesn't it hold very much coal? How many pounds will a full pot hold? I mean, um, well, it's just that, hmmm.... I guess what I'm trying to say is that I had the impression these stoves were more user friendly. I'm not claiming mine is user friendly by any stretch. Actually, I'm convinced that I'm the only person that can run the dam thing lol.

When I shut it down at night, and the work hrs of the day, I close the MPD "almost" 90° shut, and the primaries about a quarter of an inch. So no, I would say I don't set it hot, when I go to work. (Or to bed). In the mornings, it's not so bad, cause it only sits un-attended for 'bout 6-7 hrs max. But when I head off to work, it'll sit abut 10 hrs, and when I get home, there's still heat in the pot, like it's "just" started to die. We'll see how it does today.

It'll immediately go to about -.03-04 Paul. Wide open in BH mode, with a strong fire, it'll run around -.07-08. What it does if I were to walk away, I'm pretty sure, when I monitored it in the beginning, it would hold true. The only time it drops is when the pot is ashed up. Then it'll drop to .01-02. It's been a few weeks since I checked the accuracy of the manometer, so whether it needs re-zeroing or not, I'll check later.

For a near fully closed MPD, that sounds like a pretty strong draft to me. :o You might need to do some tricks like add another MPD, or add some secondary air, or use a bit of check damper opening to slow it down to about .02 to get it to run past that 10 hour point ????

Paul, I couldn't fit a potato chip behind my stove, on the stove pipe, never mind another MPD. But opening the check damper has possibilities, if you think that might work. But I want to see how much the de-ashing will affect its performance 1st. In a couple days, I'll give it a try.
