Hitzer season startup. House cold

- Hand Fed Coal Stove: Hitzer 50-93
- Coal Size/Type: nut or pea, anthracite
- Other Heating: crown oil boiler, backup.if needed
need to fill it up to top of bricks.....adjust it onced the bed is deep and a sustainable fire in there. Do it in layers...about 20 minutes apart, till filled to top. once coal beds established, every 12 hours short quick choppy grate shaking... till a fair amount of red enbers fall out, add coal again in several layers over half hour or so...and it will pack out all sorts of heat.

I'd like to add something different and say that you need to fill it up to the top of the bricks at least. Then mound more on top in the middle so that the coal bed depth is 10-12 inches in the center.
