You are burning a lot more coal than I am. Not suggesting you are wrong or anything, just noting. I am burning more than one bucket, which I've never done before in 3 years of coal. Are you heating whole house or just supplementing and using oil or gas back up

I am heating my entire house with the stove. Stove is now around 500 with the blower on. MPD totally closed. Draft -.07 to -.08. Stove is now putting out good heat. Propane furnace is not running at this point. Temperature is 12. Windchill is -15 to -20 which dont help with my drafty house. Going down to -10 actual temp tonight.
FF I am burning Blashak Nut I had delivered back in the end of spring. I have 3 ton of Stockton on hand also I can play with

Wow! That's a lot of coal to burn in 12 hours......... I don't think I ever used more than one 5 gallon pail in 12 hours. Not in the 50-93.BlackBetty06 wrote: ↑Sat. Jan. 06, 2018 7:43 amPut blower back on last night. Stove burned hot all night and used 1 3/4 buckets of coal in 12 hrs. It was very windy though which i think helps the draft on my giant chimney even with the current temp of 4. When I was getting weird draft issues before it was about 0 with still winds. Will see tonight. Winds are supposed to stop and temps are to be -10-0.

Sounds like it is doing a fine job to me. Heating an entire house with a single stove on a -10 windy night is not an easy task. We have a 50-93 in the shop that the boys really get rippin' once in a while, and they can put two pails per day through it.BlackBetty06 wrote: ↑Sat. I agree with the others that running the blower might change the amount of "heat" that the bimetallic control sees, just turn the dial down a little bit.

I'll back Fred on this one. 5 gallon pail (all you can get in it) = 40 pounds. I dump a 40 pound bag of coal into a 5 gallon pail every day. Easier to dump in stove that way.freetown fred wrote: ↑Sat. Jan. 13, 2018 6:45 pmUnless ya fill it all the way. then it's 40 lbs. .>) Ya need to tell Steven to get on those guys!! LOL

When I say I feed the pig two buckets of coal, Im talking the standard coal pail NOT 5 gallon buckets. When shes really ripping I can feed it a 5 gallon bucket in the am and a 5 gallon bucket in the pm. Ive got it cut back good today since we are having a bout of nasty spring like temperatures in july. I was up on my roof and could barely sense any heat at all coming out of the chimney!
