Hand Fed Coal Stove: Hitzer 50-93
Coal Size/Type: Mostly nut, some pea

The funny things is that the woman told me that they replaced the Hitzer with a pellet stove because her son was tired of dealing with burning wood! The 35 bags of coal came from the same shop that sold them the stove so they have probably been sitting there for 6 years while the son hauled firewood home. Crazy.

When I bought my 50-93, it was from a wood burner only. Had to replace the grate cradle, grates & connector which I don't thing the 30-95 has. Also did new glass, hopper boot ( my hopper is not removable) & all new gaskets & it was basically like a brand new stove. I paid $400.00 + $200.00 for all replacement parts--this was in 2008.

The 30-95 is now sitting in front of it's new home. Next we have to get it out of the truck & into my shop. My motorcycle lift is very handy for moving heavy items.

The stove has some surface rust from sitting outside under a tarp down by the ocean for a month but overall not bad. Hopper, grate, grate frame, blower, glass & almost everything else that might need replacement were fine. Definitely will be replacing most of the fire bricks, install a complete gasket set, replace 1 of the hinges on the decorative hood, sand/etch the rust & repaint.

Ended up paying $700 for the stove & 35 bags of mostly nut coal, some pea.

Yes, probably took hopper out to make room for burning wood. That being said; I don't think you could possibly hurt that stove burning wood. Not a very good wood burner.
I'm with Oliver on the 30-95, can't hurt it burning wood. I have on in my shop that I burn wood in for a few fires until it's cold enough for Coal. They are strong little stoves. Can't hurt it.

I however bought my for $400 a few years back. No blower but I was at the right place at the right time when a friend of the family was getting divorced. Couldn't pass it up.

Like I said, right place at the right time. No worries it has a good home now in my shop and actually was the reason I switched for the Keystoker 105 to a Hitzer 50-93 in the house! Worth every penny to me.

I'd take a 50-93 over a 105 any day myself.
