After selling my house a few years ago and the buyers wanting my other furnace, Ashley 24 AF I stumbled across this older Hitzer 82 on craigslist a few weeks ago for $400. Everything worked out and I installed it in my shop, I'm burning wood right now and I'm really impressed with this stove but I cant wait to get some coal in it and see how it does once the temps drop .

if the soda machine is functional and you want anything even remotely cool out of it it's going to have to have a new home.
that 82 on coal is going to ROCK.
great deal on a really good stove by the way, i bought a Riteway #37 ( grandfather of the 82 ) with 2 yrs of use on it for $500 and burned coal in it non stop from '88 to '14

Yeah the Coke machine works lol, glad to hear about the coal Im anxious to see how it burns, my old Ashley would only get about 5 or 6 days of burn time before going out . After the season is over I'm going to tear it down clean it, paint and possibly put a piece of glass in the load door for viewing.

Welcome aboard BH, and nice shot of your Hitzer. Looks like a great central location. And what's this about your old Ashly "ONLY" getting 5-6 days of unattended(?) burn times !
That is killer. How many tons of coal did it hold to burn that long?

Thanks, this setup worked out great, I can turn the blower on the gas furnace on to circulate heat right off of the stove. No the Ashly was attended twice a day and it held around a 100 lbs but it had more over fire air even after trying some modifications that I read about on here but it was a nice furnace.
