Hi Jack - I got your message, thanks for thinking of me.

I started out burning coal in a Heatrola. They are a nice stove, other than the grate you will need to check the seams and see if they need to be resealed. Mine had some pretty big air leaks that I fixed with furnace cement.

If you find a nice one, it should do a good job in your basement.

Hi Jack,

did you find a way to move heat around or did you decide the 617a is just not big enough ?

don't just give it away, i'll come back and get it if that's what it takes.

K, his upstairs is fine with the 30-95--it's that fridge he's got for a basement. I wouldn't even try to heat mine above the 55 it stays at now. LOL Not great pix but ya can get the idea!! :)

about the same here. surfaces are anywhere from 51 to 45 down there right now.

i should see about getting an temp down there sometime, nothing ever freezes down there, even after days of 20 below and wind.

K, after skimming stone walls & putting 2" Styrofoam between my floor trees--whoops--joists LOL then Great Stuff foam--I' really think my elec. water heater (on timer) keeps it as warm as it is--also block windows in winter with 4" Styrofoam!!
