Hi Everyone...

Two of the three coal bars on our brand new TLC2000 came loose yesterday after just pouring some coal through the top loader (very small amount). The stove was just installed on Saturday... It appears that the bottom coal bar is not having the same issue because it is filed at the end in order to fit through both ends with ease. The other two bars are not filed down so they are barely staying in... Has anyone had this issue?

Thanks in advance.

John

Give the company you bought it from a call and have them fix it.

This seems very strange.
The new makers of that stove seem helpful, and concerned, so give them a call.

I have the same stove and LOVE it! Tho the bars are just set in there very flimsily. Not much margin for error. I have also heat warped them, not overfired, and they fit a lil better now......LOL.

Are bars a term for grates?

The manual shows them and mentions that they protect the glass... doesn't say from what .. maybe excessive heat??

If reloading the stove from the top, the bars minimize impacting of the coal being poured in from hitting the glass.

OP - the bars are just slid into the holders on either side of the front door opening. After running a Harman TLC2000 for a few years now (I don't think Legacy did any design changes after acquiring the coal line from Harman), the ability to quickly remove a bar (or all three) to make a fire brick adjustment or to shovel out a dead stove (end of season, shoulder months) has been nice. I also had a concern about those "dang bars being loose" when we first got out stove, but now we're fine with them and have had no problems.

Best regards and much warmth!
