Help With Installing a Thimble On My Chimney

There is already a 8" thimble it Is too big for the flue and it is off center. Too the left of the flue there is no brick or anything else. It is just hollow space.

I ran into this .Can you cut open one side of chimney an use brick to make a seal around thimble jack

No. I have a brick house and chimney. The chimney is tapered way out coming down to the ground.

Chimney pipe should go well beyond an inch or so into the thimble.

How big is a 6" thimble. If it would fit inside the 8" you could cement it inside the 8" and plug up that hole on the left at the same time

That's what I was thinking about doing and fill the gaps on the inside then. Thanks for B everyone's help.

Left side, spray foam gap filler, make a shelf for the mix to rest on...
6" clay just butt it in...
make a few short spacers from wood to shift it right...
then pack with mix to fix in place...
once dry butter joint from inside with refractory...
