Warm Morning 617 Stove
Gents is the above stove only having a Top flue outlet . I hace a 6 inch thimble 48 inches to top of clay thimble .So I believe if an Oval 7 inch to 6 in round will not connect height wise to my thimble .Please your comments .Is the wm flue outlet adjustable .I have never seen one in person .

The flue connection plate on top of the 617 is able to be flipped around to allow the flue to exit the rear of the stove instead of the top. 4 or 6 screws to loosen, flip it and bolt it back down. I would prob use a sealer of some kind to reseal the plate.

took a 24 hr solo round trip drive to deliver my WM 617a to Jack this past week end, what a delight to be with such a great host and hostess.
So...........the new old stock never fired 617 is finally going to pull it's own weight.
here's some pics from my attachment files.
these stoves were shipped with some kind of wax on the barrels that discolored with age and combined with lighter than it looks surface rust. anyone have a good idea for the easiest way of cleaning up the barrel ?

Might try vinegar on it. I use it to clean rusted cast iron pans before reseasoning them. Maybe use a spray bottle to wet the areas , let it soak then rub with 0000 steel wool.

Another option is Krud Kutter... A Must For Rust. It comes in a spray bottle and is sold in Walmart and Lowes.

what have most done to transition from oval to round with these ?
the local Ace is balking on ordering Jack an adapter. anyone know if the oval on the WM is the same size as the Chubbie ? i've always liked their cast one.

I think on the 617 a 6 inch pipe will fit. I think that is what I did on mine, just make the end oval to fit on.KingCoal wrote:what have most done to transition from oval to round with these ?

Jack,
here a couple pics of a 24 ga. 6" Ace Hardware stove pipe mushed down to an oval by hand and slid over the flange on a #120 lid.
i measured the base of the oval to be 19" exactly on 2 diff. #120's and it's all you can do to get the pipe over the flange and seated all the way down. it takes pretty good hands ( you shouldn't have any trouble ) and decent support for the stove lid and flange.
i'm also adding a link to what i think is one of the better pre-made adapters because it is fully finished at both end with collars. as the ad says the circumference of the adapter is 19.5" and could mean that it will need sealant to be fully trustworthy or, the center of the adapter is a flatter oval than the flange and when its made to spread out some will tighten right up on it's own.
