Finally let the range go out Wednesday when it hit 95 F here. Wanted to keep it going for cooking and not need to use the pro-pain kitchen stove. But, even in direct draft and dampered down to send the bulk of the heat up the chimney, there was still too much heat output. The kitchen was getting close to the outdoor temps. Easy to see why the old timers had summer kitchens and moved the range outback to a porch or shed. Forerunner of todays BBQ grill. ;)

8 months since first startup in September, with only a few restarts needed for "operator error". Gotta remember to refuel the stove before those afternoon naps.

I vacuumed it all out yesterday. When the weather cools off a bit I'll run it again on wood to give it nice rust proof coating of creosote for the three month summer shutdown.

Light up my 50-93 on October the 6 and let it die on May the first. One match only. Burned 7,200 pounds Blaschak nuts. Hitzer serve me the best for my 2,600 sq. feet canadian home with average insulation. No other source of heat is used. Regardless of the outside temperature our Hitzer treats us extremely well.

1 match in spite of neglect by my adult children when DK and I were traveling. The fire was never dead enough that it couldn't be pulled back to life. Lisa

4, three different stoves, one relit during the very late cold snap.

i find it interesting how this "climate change" stuff worked out this yr. i lit up earlier, had a fire later ( than ever ) and burned LESS coal over all.

just doing my part to keep the green house operating
